Keeping the mice and rodent population under control is essential on the farm. The most natural way to accomplish this is with a few good barnyard cats. Even if you’re not a “cat person” I strongly recommend keeping cats on your property.
I try to keep all of my cats spayed and neutered but there are always surprises and visits from neighborhood ferral cats. I generally end up with a few litters of kittens each year. I rehome most of these kittens so they can catch mice on farms and in yards of their own.
I just sold 9 kittens and don’t expect to have any more this summer, but I could end up with a few this fall (2020)
